Co-operative Spingboard is an on-line platform promoting real and meaningful involvement by members of the Co-operative Group.
It was set up in February 2014 by the Manchester Area Committee of Co-operative Group to promote discussion about the reform of the Group's structure then underway. The committee put forward seven propositions for reform on Springboard, which attracted widespread support.
After the Co-operative Group adopted a completely new structure in September 2014, Springboard activists launched an experimental forum for local members in one area of South Manchester. The aim was to demonstrate how to create real and meaningful member involvement at a local level - by adopting some of the principles first put forward in the seven propositions: an open informal culture, real employee involvment, and much closer to communities.
The cluster idea was taken up by the Co-operative Group and in September 2015 a pilot project was launched to trial 37 'Co-operative Local Forums' across the UK.
Springboard carries news and information about the Chorlton and Whalley Range Co-operative Local Forum and aims to be an open resource for any other Co-operative Local Forums that want an open independent space to post news, information and comment.
So if you run a co-op local forum, please get in touch - just email firstname.lastname@example.org
We'll continue to comment on the evolution of the Co-operative Group under its new structure.
